Workshop description:
Participants of the workshop will experience full days of learning and exploring different skills. We pay attention to your well-being by taking breaks when needed, offering yoga sessions and delicious food.
Skills and topics presented:
- soil evaluation and testing
- mixing cob: knowing what you want
- special mixes and applications
- building arches and niches
- incorporating driftwood, glass and other elements
- anchors for doors and roof
- seismic solutions for load-bearing cob
- sculpting your walls
- site management
- natural house design
- intro to finishing
- talks about related issues: roof, foundations, other materials
Depending on your entry skill-level you will have the confidence to work on a small project of your own or join a crew after taking this 4 day introduction to Cob construction.
Elke has many years of cob building and teaching experience. Elke is one of cobworks founders and currently lives and works at O.U.R.Ecovillage on Vancouver Island.
